Your Girlfriend Fay” is NOT an overnight success…well, not professionally at least.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey to a Puerto Rican father and a Colombian mother, Fay grew up listening to music of all kinds. With 2 brothers, 1 sister, and the rough streets, Fay learned quickly how to speak up, speak out, and speak her mind.
After a very loud (and cold) childhood in New Jersey, Fay trekked south to Miami’s South Beach, the only place on the east coast that she could legally go topless on the beach!
In Miami, “Your Girlfriend Fay” (as she was named by her friends along Ocean Drive) played hard and worked hard! She was also heavily involved within the community.
Some of Fay’s favorite community work included the Cystic Fibrosis Organization, CARE Resource (the people who put on White Party @ Vizcaya each November), the Red Ribbon Ride, the Make A Wish Foundation, Wilton Manors Stonewall Festival, Fort Lauderdale PrideFest, Gay Days @ Disney, Aqua Girl, Guenville, Pride San Francisco, Toxic, March of Dimes, Dining Out For Life, and Habitat For Humanity.
Fay was also a main-stay on Miami radio including co-hosting mornings at Clear Channel Radio’s WHYI-FM Y-100 “Kenny & Footy In The Morning”, Cox Communications WPYM-FM Party 93-1, and Spanish Broadcasting System’s El Zol 95.7!
However, it took her six years to realize that when you are a 5 foot 11-inch Puerto Rican/Colombian woman, the Florida humidity does NOT agree with a latina’s nappy-n-curly hair!
So Fay packed her things and headed west to the Bay Area and Mornings on “Strawberry In The Morning” on WiLD 94.9! She’s moved into the Upper Market District near Castro to “be near my people!” “I loved the Bay but I had a feeling it was not my final destination”.
“It’s all about the attitude in The Bay, and I could not live somewhere its not,” Fay says. “The lifestyle, the way people walk, the way people talk, the music to the clothes people wear…that’s what “Latinos” are about ...pure 100% Attitude and 100% Real. That’s why I jumped at the chance to work with “The Latino Legend” Luis Jimenez in New York City. To have the opportunity to be “out” and be myself on a show meant everything to me and Luis gave me that chance.
You can catch “Your Girlfriend Fay” giving everyone a hard time and being as blunt as possible on “The Luis Jimenez Show” weekday mornings in San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Fresno, Fort Myers and Los Angeles and coming soon to a city near you.
And when she’s being bad, just find the closest gay bar or shoe store. You are sure to find her there.
